Baja Prog Festival 26-29/3/2008 Mexicali, México
Welcome to the Progressive Oasis

Baja Prog is a series of Progressive/Art Rock concerts that take place during 4 consecutive days (march 26-29 2008) , where 20 bands and fans from all over the world get together to exchange ideas and build relationships. The Festival takes place in Mexicali, capital of the state of “Baja California”, México; right on the border with state of California in the U.S. look at the map.

Baja Prog 2008 – Un oasis multicultural
A estas alturas, Baja Prog es una cita obligada de cada año. Más abajo, en el reportaje, explico el porqué. Lo cierto es que este año pudimos disfrutar de dos colosos italianos de otro planeta: New Trolls y Le Orme, de Circa, Omni y otras tantas bandas que conformaron una parrilla bastante atractiva.

He aquí algunas consideraciones del que considero el mejor festival progresivo de América.

El festival Baja Prog es hoy en día sin duda el mejor festival de América latina en cuanto a rock progresivo y propuestas creativas se refiere, es una mezcla de música, amistad y artes que causa adicción en los cientos de personas que han asistido a todas sus ediciones.

Este año no fue la excepción y de una u otra forma el festival a encontrado nuevamente la manera de hacer que la experiencia musical y el viaje auditivo que ella conlleva, fuese tan pero tan grata, que hay quien asegura haber llorado después de tan impresionante actuación de la sinfónica de Baja California con la poderosa banda italiana NEW TROLLS, quienes lucharían de 2 a 3 caídas sin limite de tiempo contra la gran agrupación de CIRCA: y sus miembros de la legendaria banda YES, por el titulo de la mejor......

Logo "the Solstice"

More important cave painting of the north of the Baja California for being the only painting related to the phenomenon of the winter solstice, since the 22 of December at 7:00 a.m. a solar ray penetrates and touches an edge of the place that turns aside the light towards the height of the eyes of the anthropomorphous figure and illuminates by a few minutes the interior of the cave. This phenomenon that considered a marker of the solstice, since it indicates the beginning of the winter for the North hemisphere of the planet and served to mark a very special date in the calendar kumiai.

It measures approximately 20 centimeters and is located in the archaeological zone of "the Vallecito"; It represents a chaman where the predominant ethnic groups were Kumiai, Cucapá, Cochimí, Pai Pai and Kiliwa.

The antennas that classify it as anthropomorphous painting by is not in its Human totality and the reference can be taken from the dance of the deer made by the Sonora Yaki dancer that his head carries deer horns being something similar to the antennas or horns of the painting.

Its red color is due to the little pigment diversity with which the natives had to make their paintings, thats why of its colloquial name "The little Devil" that does not have any bond with the devil nor with extraterrestrial as some people affirm, in fact is an astrological event.
